Hello All, my name is Rob and my wife Sonia Leighton, we created this blog so that anyone interested can follow our progress. The Megan D was built in Novia Scotia in 1978 by Rosborough yachts. The boat is featured in the book "Confessions of a Boat Builder" as Megan D Privateer. It spent most of its first years in Alaska with the Dorman family and lastly, Tacoma.

The month of January
Building a framework for the tarp
one side all tucked in :)
Scraping out the seams, they are still pretty tight, so I am just cleaning out the caulking and some of the cotton where it is loose.

Megan D Day 34 and 35
Installed 2 heavy bronze 8' portholes
they fit nicely in the old window openings inside the cabin
Having to replace the bulkhead separating the aft cabin and the engine room.
One side done!
Taking out all the old rusty iron that was used for internal ballast, this will be replaced with lead
I'm estimating about 2000 lbs worth of what looks like old grader blade material
