Launching

First, I want to thank everyone for your interest in the Schooner. It really encourages me  that I made the right decision to save her from the bone yard.
Special thanks to all who have volunteered  your labor to help me. You will be forever appreciated and are a part of something that will help a lot of people.

I will add more information and specs about the Schooner later.

  1. Having sailed on a Rosborough Brigantine in 1980 from Martinique to Antigua to Bermuda to New York I have good and difficult memories of that boat.
I am sure your quality restorations have made it a fine ship.

All the best for your launch.

    1. Thanks Leon, any tips would be appreciated. I am taking several 100 lbs of weight out aloft and replacing all the internal iron ballast with lead. I'm hoping my changes will make it more sea kindly as I heard these designs were hard to stay on track in heavy weather. I am also enlarging the rudder slightly.

  2. WOW! what an incredible restoration. I lived aboard the Megan D. in harbour in Juneau. This was my father's boat. When the boat was originally built I was scheduled to crew with my father and bring the Megan D. from Nova Scotia to Alaska. My plans changed at the time. I believe the Megan was eventually trucked from Florida to the west coast.

    1. Hello Karl, thanks for posting. I am glad that you found our blog and following the restoration. There is a Panama Canal Certificate inside the schooner so it must have gone through the canal at some point. Maybe while it was in San Diego they sailed through there. Hope you can stop by and visit if you are in Olympia sometime. I would love to hear stories and learn more of the schooners history :)

    1. It was a very wet winter and slowed us down considerably, so we had to push the launch date out to sometime this summer. Will let you know the date later :)

  5. Don't give up on her now guys... take her off eBay and see the dream to the end. If you need money start a GoFundMe initiative or get investors or commercial sponsors on board. You can do it!
